day 1

Sabaidee! Welcome to Luang Prabang, Laos. Your Private guide & driver will meet you at the International airport before transferring to the hotel.

Feast your appetite and sights on the newly opened “Ethnic Fashion Show” (open on Wednesday, Friday & Sunday) where you can enjoy dinner with various Lao traditional dishes.

Alternative (daily): Enjoy a welcome cocktail and indulge in Laotian past through silent movie Chang – A Drama of the Wilderness. Premiered in 1927, this masterpiece was one of the most famous blockbusters that year before mysteriously disappearing for 60 years. Re-edited mid-90s, the film is shown with new composition score based on Lao traditional music. Dinner will be served at a gorgeous ambience garden restaurant then.

After dinner, take a walk around the Night Market. Locals here usually start setting up their stalls right on the main street of the town by dawn so be ready to burn your pocket with variety of shopping goods, from handmade textiles crafted by local and hill-tribe people to marvelous handicraft silverware or home decors, along with mouthwatering street food, knick-knacks and friendly banter.

You will continue to the tipping point of this thumb-shaped peninsular, where stands Wat Xieng Thong – Luang Prabang’s most spacious and age-old temples. The culture relic is best-known for its impressive Tree of Life mural depicting the Buddhist story.

If the water level in Mekong River remains low and balance, you can walk from the Wat to its sandy bank, where Mekong River meets Nam Khan River and take some great photos.

Lunch will be served at Tamarind Restaurant (closed on Sunday) – an excellent place to discover Laotian cuisine with most authentic recipes and friendly staff. The menu features healthy Lao dishes.

After lunch, travel to the Southern area, where the famous Kuangsi Waterfall resided. The vivid turquoise water color with a backdrop of white limestone cliffs adds exceptional highlights to the waterfall magical appearance.

You will go back to Luang Prabang by late afternoon. En route, visit the Ock Pop Tock weaving centre, run by an organization that offers local weavers decent incomes with their weaving skills. A spectacular view over the Mekong River at sunset and cocktail is a perfect way to finish the day.
