day 1

Xin chào! Welcome to Vietnam.

Upon arrival at Hanoi airport and after immigration clearance, you will be greeted by local guide who will take you to downtown.

Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam and one of the hidden gems of Southeast Asia, retains an elegance and charm which makes it stand out from other cities. The winding narrow streets of the bustling Old Quarter contrast with wafting incense in the Temple of Literature and the serenity of the many small lakes. The city’s French influence is well present in fine old colonial buildings and tree-lined boulevards.

day 2

You will meet up with the guide in hotel’s lobby at 9.00 AM.

First, head to the Southern edge of the ancient citadel (the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense nowadays) and start your walk. You will cross a lively street, where merchants display an impressive array of veggies and fruits being sold every morning. Keep walking and enter Hanoi’s unique “food street”, the only place in town where food shops are allowed to stay opened 24/7.

Then, revel in the impressive scenes of life by the rails at Hanoi Train Street, before visiting the Temple of Literature, a masterpiece of Hanoi’s architecture.

For lunch you will taste bun cha at a street shop on the sidewalk. Bun Cha is an exclusive dish of Hanoi, with flavored minced pork, flame grilled and served with sticky rice noodles and spring rolls.

In the afternoon, you will explore the garden of the Presidential Palace featuring giant mango trees, the one-pillar pagoda and the teak house on stilts where President Ho Chi Minh spent his last years.

Then, transfer to the tree and plant street market, located in the Northwest of the city. Here, start a gentle walk along a busy street on sidewalks which are covered in lush green vegetation.

The urban trail takes you off the main avenue along smaller pathways to a very special district, where you can stepping back in time, into the 1980’s when Hanoi was a quaint capital populated mostly by modest workers. Take some time to enjoy wandering around this fascinating district.

The last stop for the day allows you to relax on the terrace of a local coffee as you can observe the daily life of locals passing by.

You will return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Along the journey, you can discover the mysterious Tien Ong Cave, which is not only beautiful but also an archaeological site. Covering an area of 1,000 m2 with stunning stalactites and stalagmites, the cave is one of the finest in Halong Bay.

In the afternoon, sit back on the sundeck and relax with a cool drink, taking in the incredible scenery.

Later on, let’s participate in an exciting ‘Master-Chef Competition’ and fruit carving demonstration and give a try at cooking and preparing authentic Vietnamese food. The winner of the competition will be rewarded with a surprising gift.

The picturesque cycling route is highlighted with rice fields, local gardens and markets. Stop as often as you wish for taking photographs or some easy chat with locals (using our guide as a translator). There is also time to pay a visit to a local family who are still practicing the craft of weaving sedge mattresses using traditional techniques.

After around 1.5 hour cycling it is time to hop into a kayak for some time on the river. You will paddle towards Cam Thanh  palm forest. The area is a unique mangrove ecosystem to Hoi An and the scenery is spectacular. To end an active morning, your lunch will be served at a local house with tasty Vietnamese food. Take as much time for relaxing as you wish before getting a transfer back to your hotel.

In the afternoon, walk along the ancient streets of Hoi An, lined with Chinese traders’ homes and wooden houses reincarnated as restaurants, cafés, and outlets for local artists, craftsmen and tailors. Hoi An’s unique architecture is well displayed in what is arguably Vietnam’s most tourist-friendly town.

Explore the beautiful 16th century Japanese Bridge. A symbol of Hoi An and a testament to its fascinating history, the Japanese Bridge was probably constructed in the early 17th century, though the exact date is unknown. The bridge, also known as the Pagoda Bridge (Chua Cau), was built by Japanese craftsmen who were part of a larger community of foreign merchants active in Hoi An.
